About the OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Compartment Completion Coordinator to join our Hunter Class Frigate Program based at SA-Osborne Naval Shipyard, reporting to the Compartment Completion Manager.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight.

The Senior Compartment Completion Coordinator will play a crucial role in the progressive completion and delivery of the Hunter Class Frigate Program to our customer.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct and facilitate comprehensive compartment and tank inspections, documenting identified issues and analysing emerging trends.
  • Organize inspection activities with multiple key stakeholders, fostering strong relationships with customer representatives.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of compartment completion progress, ensuring all inspections and documentation are accurate and up to date.
  • Support the Compartment Completion Manager in maintaining the Compartment Completion schedule and developing the team through knowledge transfer.
  • Assist Area Managers in managing and deconflicting activities in accordance with the Ship Plan of Day (SPOD).
  • Work with Testing & Commissioning (T&C) to ensure compartment readiness prior to the commencement of testing activities and achievement of key milestone events.
  • Engage with multiple internal stakeholders to ensure Operations are collecting relevant Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) required for acceptance and in-life service registers.
  • Support the development and refinement of the Compartment Completion process to ensure success at the Ship Acceptance stage.
  • Contribute to the development and reporting capabilities of the Completions tool.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and share lessons learned to enable Ship-on-Ship learning across the business.
  • Ensure effective communication is maintained with Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Advisors.
  • Support the management of safety, quality, trade resourcing, risk, and opportunities within the Compartment Completion scope.
  • Assist with the labelling of ship systems, equipment, and compartments.

About YOU

  • Degree or Trade qualification with experience relevant to Shipbuilding
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in inspection in relevant Shipbuilding disciplines
  • Confined Space certificate or the ability to obtain
  • Proactive and detail orientated
  • Self-sufficient, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specification requirements.
  • Strong background in conducting inspection with Inspection qualification highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal to communicate effectively across multiple levels of the business
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and ability to learn relevant software packages used on HCF
  • Ability to balance conflicting priorities to deliver against customer and business requirements, with appropriate stakeholder management
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
