The RoleThe Senior Capital Works Officer is responsible for the coordination, planning, design and development of capital works and maintenance projects on behalf of the Department and in partnership with the TAFE Colleges and Department of Housing and Works.
To achieve this, the position liaises, consults and negotiates with key internal and external stakeholders and interested parties and represents the Department on a variety of committees and project consultation groups. A key deliverable is to ensure program planning, budget forecasting, and the implementation of maintenance and capital projects are completed effectively and to a high standard.
The position is part of a project management team using project management methodology to form programs of work, develop and implement maintenance and infrastructure projects and manage the capture of project information to a high standard of accountability, including budget management and reporting.
To be successful in this role you will ideally have;
- experience in managing or coordinating projects, including the ability to deliver agreed outcomes within specified timeframes and to budget;
- a sound understanding of facilities maintenance and/or built form construction processes;
- the ability to work effectively as part of a team to establish and maintain networks; and
- high level written and interpersonal communication skills.
As a Senior Capital Works Officer, you will be part of a highly skilled, multidisciplinary and progressive team which is responsible for the delivery of a variety of projects and programs of work, at various TAFE locations, including new infrastructure, repurposing, refurbishments, maintenance and upgrades, and repairs. You will develop, monitor and oversee medium to high-risk projects from initiation to completion, lead teams, drive stakeholder engagement, and coordinate planning, procurement, and delivery through to post-completion phases to ensure successful outcomes.
