SALES MANAGER – TIMBER & HARDWARE

A long-established, family-owned timber and hardware business is looking for an experienced and commercially minded leader to oversee sales, operations, and customer relationships across the organisation.

This hands-on leadership role will drive performance, develop people, and strengthen relationships with key trade customers. Reporting directly to the owners, you'll guide a capable management team — including Store, Retail and Operations— and take ownership of sales strategy, key account management, and overall business performance.

What you'll do

  • Lead and support the Store and Operations Managers to deliver strong results.
  • Take ownership of sales, trade account management and business development activity.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key trade and retail customers.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure smooth, efficient, and safe business performance.
  • Develop and implement sales and operational plans to meet revenue, margin, and service targets.
  • Work closely with suppliers on pricing, product range and promotional opportunities.
  • Analyse performance and identify areas for improvement and growth.
  • Champion a positive, safety-focused and high-performing culture.

What you'll bring

  • Extensive experience in the timber, hardware or building supplies industry.
  • Strong leadership experience managing multi-site or multi-function teams.
  • Proven background in sales management and key account development.
  • Excellent commercial acumen with a focus on margins, costs, and growth.
  • Relationship-driven and customer-focused approach.
  • A practical, hands-on style with the ability to influence and inspire.
