Bastion is seeking a forward-thinking, analytically driven Director, Future Technologies to lead the exploration, design, and implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation across our creative and production ecosystems.

Role Overview

As Director, Future Technologies, you will be at the centre of this transformation, shaping how creativity and technology converge to deliver smarter, faster, more impactful work.

This role blends analyst-level rigor with director-level leadership, ensuring AI is not just a buzzword but a deeply integrated capability that transforms how we deliver creative, digital, and production services. You will design and optimise AI workflows, evaluate emerging technologies, and help operationalise tools that enable Bastion's "Super Human" vision: the convergence of deep specialist talent with transformative technology.

This is a foundational position for shaping the future of the agency.

Key Responsibilities

1. Define and Analyse AI Opportunities for Bastion

  • Work Smarter:
    Introduce AI efficiencies across the full project lifecycle from scoping, planning, brief development and creative production to performance measurement and campaign optimisation.
  • Product Smarter:
    Deploy generative AI to inspire ideation, creative content faster and streamline production at scale.
  • Think Smarter:
    Leverage predictive analytics and machine learning to deliver smarter, data-led, highly targeted marketing.

2. Design and Implement AI-Enabled Workflows

  • Partner with the Head of Production and creative leaders to build AI-powered production ecosystems that scale content creation, streamline processes, and improve quality.
  • Architect workflow models that embed generative AI, predictive analytics, and automation across:
  • Creative ideation and development
  • Production management and versioning
  • Campaign performance measurement and optimisation
  • Ensure AI adoption enhances — rather than replaces — human creativity, empowering talent with better tools.

3. Operationalise and Embed AI Across the Agency

  • Build and maintain an integrated AI/martech stack for both internal operations and client solutions.
  • Develop internal tools and platforms that make AI accessible and useful for staff across disciplines.
  • Lead adoption, training, and adoption programs to ensure AI is used responsibly, ethically, and consistently across teams.
  • Identify opportunities to productise AI for market growth opportunities.

4. Commercial and Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate with Practice Leads and client service teams to productise AI workflows into marketable services.
  • Support new business by demonstrating AI-enabled production efficiencies and creative capabilities in pitches.
  • Shape Bastion's future technology roadmap in line with creative and commercial objectives.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in AI strategy, workflow design, or data/technology analysis within a creative, digital, or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of AI/ML deployment in real-world workflows, including generative AI, NLP, automation platforms, and production scaling tools.
  • Ability to design and document end-to-end workflows that connect creative, production, and media through automation and AI.
  • Commercial acumen — experience identifying opportunities to monetise AI workflows and production efficiencies for clients.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to bridge strategy, creative, operations, and data disciplines.
