The Position

The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) is seeking a visionary leader to join them in the role of Faculty Executive Director. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to and influence the future of engineering and IT education and research in a preeminent institution. With a 150-year legacy of excellence, FEIT is home to world-class research, exceptional teaching, and a vibrant community of students, staff and industry partners.

As the most senior professional staff member in the Faculty, the Faculty Executive Director will work closely with the Dean and is a member of the executive team. Aligning performance and outcomes with faculty strategic priorities, this position will drive strategic planning, operational delivery and stakeholder engagement. The role oversees financial management, infrastructure, service delivery and the professional workforce. The position also plays a key role in fostering partnerships across university, academia, government and industry.

The successful candidate will be an experienced executive with a strong track record in complex environments—ideally within higher education or a similarly dynamic sector. You will bring exceptional leadership, financial acumen, and strategic insight, along with a commitment to inclusive leadership, sustainability and innovation. Your ability to influence, collaborate, and deliver results will be critical in this role. The higher education environment is rapidly changing and as a leader, the demonstrated traits of resilience, agility and the ability to navigate ambiguity will be key success factors.

For over 150 years, the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) has been a leading provider of engineering and IT education and research in Australia. They are built around three key pillars: world- class research, exceptional teaching and learning and a focus on wider engagement both with industry and the community. The Faculty conducts cutting-edge interdisciplinary research and works with a range of partners from academia, government and industry to address some of society's critical problems, such as water resource management, infrastructure protection, sustainable energy and targeted drug delivery for cancer treatment, to name a few. Other key projects in research seeks to address transformative benefits to society through digital health; tissue engineering; circular economy; and autonomous systems.

Our engineering and technology community is drawn from over 100 countries, consisting of 3,000 students in coursework programs (nearly 700 at the Masters level) and more than 1,100 students in research training, all supported by over 400 PhD qualified researchers and teachers.
