An exciting opportunity awaits an exceptional candidate for this full-time, ongoing position as the Director of Technology.

The Director Technology is responsible for the development and execution of technology and information management strategies aligned with the VCAA's (Victorian Curriculum & Assessment Authority ) organisational priorities and strategic objectives. Providing expertise and leadership in technology and information management, the role fosters innovation and drives transformation throughout the VCAA.

The Director Technology reports to the Executive Director, Corporate Services.

In addition to bringing technical expertise, the role is also a member of the VCAA's and Corporate Services Division's executive teams and is expected to contribute to whole-of-organisation leadership

This role requires specialist expertise in leading IT systems and information management.

The Director Technology ensures the effective delivery of information management and technology services, business monitoring and risk management through exemplary leadership. The role will build strong digital capability and culture to oversee the cohesive creation of new digital products, services and digital transformations for the VCAA.

Leading the IT team, the role will ensure quality service delivery, lead information management and technology improvement and foster an environment of collaboration and excellence.

The Director Technology is expected to:

  • Lead the technology, information and data asset management teams in delivering high quality services to our staff, schools and students.
  • Oversee all ICT-enabled solutions across the VCAA and ensure the effective and efficient operation of the existing technology footprint to enable the delivery of the VCAA's high-stakes functions for early years and schools across government and non-government sectors.
  • Establish an enterprise-level architecture, portfolio planning, prioritisation and alignment of digital and technology initiatives in line with the strategic direction of the VCAA.
  • Drive the digital reform program for the VCAA, bringing innovative thinking and collaborative problem-solving to create contemporary digital curriculum and assessment solutions.
  • Lead records reform to establish new enterprise-wide records management strategy and policy.
  • Oversee the management of information and technology security, encompassing strategy, operations, and governance for the organisation. This role leads a team to deliver secure customer-focused solutions and oversees key security functions to ensure platforms and services meet security standards.
  • Harness emerging technologies - from AI and automation to ethical tech applications - to unlock innovation, service delivery and efficiency.
  • Facilitate vendor partnerships and technology investments, driving performance, accountability, and value across the VCAA's technology landscape.
  • Build strategic relationships across the VCAA and work closely with the Information Management and Technology Division in the Department of Education to ensure efficiencies and manage shared risk.
