The Position
The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) seeks to appoint an outstanding and visionary leader to the position of Executive Director – Curriculum. This is a pivotal opportunity to lead curriculum strategy and transformation at the Authority, with a remit spanning early learning, school-aged curriculum, and senior secondary pathways.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Director will provide strategic leadership and direction to the Curriculum Division, overseeing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Victorian Curriculum F–10, VCE, VCE Vocational Major, VPC, and VET programs. The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping the future of curriculum in Victoria, driving reform, and fostering strong relationships with schools, sector partners, and key stakeholders.
With a proven record of executive leadership in education, the appointee will possess deep expertise in curriculum design and implementation, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and the ability to lead complex change in a dynamic environment. Experience in building high-performing teams, navigating public sector complexity, and delivering outcomes that benefit students, teachers, and the broader community will be highly regarded.
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, courageous, and future-focused leader, committed to the values of the Victorian public sector and passionate about delivering educational excellence and equity for all Victorian learners.
The Organisation
The VCAA is a statutory authority responsible for high-quality curriculum, assessment, and certification for Victorian students. The organisation is embarking on a significant transformation agenda, with a renewed focus on culture, stakeholder engagement, and operational excellence. The Executive Director – Curriculum will be instrumental in driving this change and ensuring the VCAA continues to serve the needs of students, teachers, and the community.
