We are currently seeking an experienced Accountant to join our company in our Melbourne, Victoria Branch on a 12-month parental leave fixed term contract, to assist Financial Management and team members in maintaining financial compliance.
Please note that this is a fixed-term 12-month parental leave contract.
Reporting to the Finance Director, the Accountant will accurately record and process financial transactions, ensuring that financial records are complete and in order.
Responsibilities will include:

Manage the full cycle of accounts payable processes, including requisitions, purchase order creation and receipting for payroll, overhead, and precast-related items.

Prepare and lodge accurate Business Activity Statements for all four entities within the group,
-
Oversee the internal plant hire process, including maintaining asset and rate records, processing internal hire invoices, and conducting related analysis and reporting.

Create and maintain the fixed asset register and provide support for capital expenditure (CAPEX) procurements and disposals.

Prepare and submit periodical reports to external parties, including Australian Bureau of Statistics surveys, Payment Times Reporting, and Taxable Payments Annual Reports.

Assist entities with the preparation and submission of Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns.

Analyze and report on plant maintenance costs and variances, prepare workshop expense reports, and develop quarterly equipment dashboards.

Process transactions within the Redmap system, conduct User Acceptance Testing, and contribute to process improvement initiatives.

Participate in process mapping, identify and implement process improvements,

Create and maintain the PPSR register and perform all related tasks.

Provide timely information and support to both external and internal auditors as required.

Maintain and enhance accounting controls by preparing and recommending relevant policies and procedures.

Assist the Finance Director and Finance Manager with ad hoc, weekly, and monthly reporting requirements.
Skills & Experience:

Experience in the construction industry.
-
Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences and adapt complex information into simple messages.

Technical knowledge of requirements gathering, process documentation, project planning, testing methodologies, change management methodologies.

Understands trends, is inquisitive (questions the numbers).

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
-
Understand reconciliations and flow of data.
Position requirements:

Hold a bachelor's degree in accounting,
-
2 years practical experience in accounting,
-
Advanced Microsoft Office skills,
-
Proven analytical abilities and critical thinking skills,
-
Experience with Pronto or similar ERP.
