About the role:

The Principal Project Manager role supports the Housing and Fairness Portfolio and is responsible for managing a range of multi-disciplinary projects from approval to successful implementation, then to ongoing system support and management.

The role provides leadership, stakeholder management, budget and cash flow management, reporting, quality assurance and risk management, and liaises closely with executive sponsors and steering committees.

  • Maintaining a strong understanding of the department's approved platforms and systems.
  • Supporting the delivery of high-quality solution outcomes that meet business and citizen expectations through strategic thinking, innovation, and process re-engineering.
  • Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
  • Providing strong project management and delivery expertise by ensuring the timely, on-budget, high-quality delivery of projects and enhancements that meets customer expectations.
  • Manage Post Incident Reviews (PIR) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) exercises in conjunction with all key stakeholders and IT suppliers, and manage the related processes, including the translation of outcomes into traceable actions.

Qualifications / Specialist Expertise

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
  • Certifications related to project management methodology (such as PRINCE 2 or PMP) or relevant agile delivery is required.

Specialist Expertise

  • Agile project and DevOps experience will be advantageous.
  • Extensive experience as a Senior Project Manager in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) environments, delivering new SaaS-based, COTS, and Microsoft technology-based solutions using agile and waterfall methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects across a diverse portfolio of business areas.
  • Proven experience in reporting to executive project boards and sponsors.
  • Proven leadership experience including mentoring and coaching teams to achieve successful outcomes.
