THE ROLE

The Principal Project Manager, Emergency Management will work across the Department to drive digital transformation across the current Emergency Management IT systems. The transformation program includes a substantial investment over two years to enhance EM IT systems to significantly improve the service level and quality of EM service delivery to Victorians impacted by emergencies. The enhancements will review and transform current systems to deliver direct supports to the community, including easier and integrated ways for Victorians impacted by emergencies to access services and supports they need. It will also deliver business benefits such as faster relief payments, processing efficiencies, and improved fraud and risk controls.

The Principal Project Manager role is responsible for oversight of the project over its lifespan. The role will ensure robust planning, stakeholder management and risk mitigation are embedded across the project to ensure effective delivery, including:

  • Ensuring consistent progress and adherence to timelines for all components.
  • Providing focused leadership and coordination to manage the program effectively
  • Mitigating the risk of delays or disruptions due to emergency events
  • Facilitating efficient communication and collaboration among stakeholders
  • Enhancing overall program governance and accountability.

The role supports the department's operational response to emergencies and provides important subject matter expertise during emergency operations.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

  • Manage and oversee the delivery of the project in accordance with the department's project management processes including:

  • Delivering project business case and plans within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.

  • Preparing and presenting quality reports and work briefings

  • Contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of projects to ensure departmental objectives are met.

  • Represent emergency management in all aspects of the project, including in stakeholder engagement with e-Heath project teams (including technical teams) and external stakeholders such as Service Victoria.

  • Engage broadly across the department, ensuring project alignment with business goals, timelines and budget.
