Eastern Suburbs Victoria, Australia Tandem Partners Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

Shape a more equitable, inclusive and compassionate future for one of Victoria's leading health services

Eastern Health is one of Melbourne's largest metropolitan public health services, providing care across more than 50 sites to some of Victoria's most diverse communities. With over 12,000 staff delivering acute, sub-acute, community, aged care, and mental health services, we're united by our promise of Healthier Together — underpinned by our values of Respect for All, Safe Always, Partnering in Care, and Learning and Improving Every Day.

We're seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to take on the pivotal role of Director, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). This role will drive the continued development and implementation of our DEI frameworks and initiatives, building a culture where every consumer, carer, family member and employee feels safe, welcome and included.

About the role

Reporting to the Executive Director, Allied Health, Strategy, Improvement and Experience, this influential leadership role will:

  • Provide expert advice and leadership in the design, implementation and governance of Eastern Health's DEI strategy and plans.
  • Build organisational capability and maturity in DEI practice, embedding equity and inclusion across all levels of the organisation.
  • Lead specialist consumer services that support the navigation and experience of patients from diverse backgrounds — including Disability Liaison, NDIS Navigation, Family Violence, Language Services, Spiritual Care, and LGBTQIA+ liaison services.
  • Partner with executives, senior leaders, clinicians and community groups to deliver system-wide cultural transformation and measurable improvements in inclusion, belonging and equitable access to care.
  • Champion and advocate for the needs of culturally, linguistically and socially diverse communities across our service footprint.

About you

You are an experienced DEI leader with a track record of driving cultural and organisational transformation in complex, multi-site environments. You bring both vision and practical execution — able to inspire others, influence senior stakeholders, and deliver real, measurable change.

You will also bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in diversity and inclusion, organisational development, social sciences, human resources, or public health (postgraduate qualifications highly regarded).
  • Demonstrated success designing and implementing DEI strategies and frameworks that deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Experience leading teams and services focused on supporting diverse and vulnerable populations.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage executives, staff, consumers, carers and community partners.
  • A deep and authentic commitment to inclusion, equity and belonging.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary plus access to salary packaging benefits
  • Hybrid work flexibility with a visible on-site leadership presence across multiple sites
  • Significant professional development and career growth opportunities
  • The chance to lead a team and deliver impact across one of Victoria's most respected health services

Join us

If you're a strategic, people-centred leader with the drive and empathy to make lasting cultural impact, we'd love to hear from you.
