About Her Place

Her Place Women's Museum Australia is a not-for-profit organisation that celebrates the social, civic, and entrepreneurial achievements of Australian women. Through exhibitions, public programs, education resources, and a growing archive, Her Place honours the contributions of women—known and unknown—who have shaped our nation.

As Her Place transitions to a new, fit-for-purpose space at the Abbotsford Convent in early 2026, the organisation is poised to expand its reach, deepen its impact, and become the definitive source of knowledge and storytelling about Australian women.

Position Summary

This role requires a visionary leader with a strong track record in grant writing, stakeholder engagement, and cultural leadership. • Ensure compliance with governance, financial, and legal obligations.
  • Report to the Board and support its effective functioning.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community organisations, educators, cultural institutions, and government bodies.
  • Advocate for gender equity in historical commemoration and public storytelling.
  • Represent Her Place in public forums, media, and policy discussions.

  • Strong understanding of gender equity, public history, and community engagement.
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills.
