V/Line is entering an important phase of transformation under new leadership, focused on strengthening operational reliability, asset performance, and long-term strategic alignment with the Victorian Government's transport agenda. As part of this organisational refinement, the Assets and Maintenance Group have a clear purpose, to care for today's assets and plan for tomorrow's network. Overseeing approximately 3,500km of track and associated civil, signalling, and station infrastructure, this division ensures the delivery of a safe, reliable, and efficient regional rail system that supports the needs of Victorian communities.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Director - Assets and Maintenance - will lead a large, multidisciplinary division responsible for maintenance delivery, asset strategy, engineering governance, and network access. This role calls for an experienced and credible rail infrastructure leader who combines technical depth with strategic acumen and a pragmatic leadership style. The successful candidate will drive the modernisation of V/Line's asset management practices, embedding a data-driven, performance-focused culture that delivers measurable improvements in safety, reliability, and cost efficiency. A key part of this role will be fostering strong collaboration with the Operations division and building trust with key stakeholders including DTP, Treasury, DPC, and Ministerial offices
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in asset lifecycle management, maintenance optimisation, and industrial relations leadership. They will have a proven record in cultural transformation, leading large teams through reform and renewal while maintaining a "safety first, performance always" mindset. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of Victoria's regional rail network, delivering tangible outcomes in reliability, customer experience, and public value. A total remuneration package at an SES3 level will be offered, commensurate with experience.
