Family Lawyer

• Full time ongoing position (part time applications considered)
• Salary range: $90,871 - $101,868 (pro rata) plus super plus salary packaging
• Up to $15,900 in salary packaging and hybrid WFH & office model

About the role

You will provide high quality legal services including legal advice (including pre court engagement with legal services), duty lawyer services, casework, representation and undertake negotiation and dispute resolution on behalf of clients in family law and family violence intervention order matters. This may include providing referrals, initial advice and assistance in other legal areas connected to the primary legal problem, such as child protection matters, as required.

The Ringwood Office is one of VLA's largest metropolitan offices, providing services to Heidelberg and Ringwood Magistrates Courts, the Mental Health Review Tribunal, and various outreach services. The office is home to approximately 65 staff members and enjoys an excellent workplace culture.

This role is based at our Ringwood office on Wurundjeri Country.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

• Demonstrated ability to act as an advocate, deliver legal advice and casework and undertake negotiation and dispute resolution on behalf of clients in family law, family violence and other related areas of law.
• Knowledge or practical experience in relevant law and procedure with a focus on one or more of family law, family violence and/or child protection.
• High level of interpersonal and communication skills and the demonstrated ability to liaise and communicate effectively with clients, staff and external stakeholders and organisations.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with others and foster a cooperative and supportive team environment.
