THE ROLE
As a Senior Consultant in our Building Code team, you'll be a trusted advisor to clients, delivering high-quality BCA consultancy services across medium-to-large projects. Acting as lead consultant with minimal oversight, you'll provide clear, practical, and commercially aligned compliance advice, while applying performance-based design principles to complex projects.
This role combines technical expertise, project management, and client engagement with opportunities to mentor junior staff and contribute to the growth of DC Partnership's building code practice. You'll also have the chance to influence the wider industry through involvement in technical committees, standards development, and thought leadership initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Delivery:
Deliver high-quality building code services including assessments, compliance strategies, performance solutions, and reports.
- Project Management:
Manage projects end-to-end — from scoping and programming to financial tracking and variation management.
- Mentoring & Team Support:
Provide guidance and mentoring to junior staff, supporting technical consistency and team development.
- Client Relationships:
Act as day-to-day contact for allocated projects, building strong relationships with architects, developers, certifiers, and contractors.
- Business Development:
Contribute to proposals, identify cross-discipline opportunities, and represent DCP at industry functions.
- Industry Contribution:
Engage with professional bodies and contribute to technical papers, presentations, and sector-wide initiatives.
- Compliance & Governance:
Ensure strict compliance with NCC, Australian Standards, and QA/QC processes, while meeting accreditation obligations.
ABOUT YOU
We're seeking a highly skilled consultant who thrives in both technical and client-facing settings. You will have:
- Alignment with DC Partnership values (Integrity, Teamwork, Growth, Flexibility, Innovation).
- Proven experience in building code consultancy or a related field.
- Strong working knowledge of the NCC, Australian Standards, and performance-based design principles.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver medium-to-large projects independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
- A collaborative, proactive, and commercially minded approach.
- Experience mentoring or developing junior team members (desirable).
- Relevant professional accreditation or registration (e.g., Building Surveyor) is highly regarded.
