About the Role
The Lecturer, specialising in Remote and Indigenous Health, will facilitate research and educational programs aimed at preparing a health workforce for the unique challenges of remote and Indigenous health care. The role involves teaching, academic administration, contributing to evidence-based research, and engaging with the local and professional communities in alignment with Flinders University's social accountability goals.
Key duties include contributing to allied health workforce programs, supporting health professional students on placement, and conducting research in rural health and workforce development. The incumbent will collaborate with UDRH program coordinators and health education teams across South Australia and the NT, fostering partnerships within Flinders University and external organisations. They will also provide guidance to research support staff and casual academics, ensuring alignment with University policies and standards.
About You
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
- Completion of a PhD in Health, or equivalent qualifications or evidence of professional standing, reputation and qualifications demonstrated to be of an equivalent standard in the discipline area
- Demonstrated evidence of or capacity to undertake high quality teaching in a tertiary environment, including involvement in topic coordination and curriculum design
- A strong research track record (for career stage) in an area aligned with research strengths including evidence of quality publications and attraction of external competitive grant
- Sound knowledge of the issues surrounding rural and remote health practice in Australia, including contemporary population health and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health
- Demonstrated experience or capability to engage with e-learning platforms for teaching purposes
- A current driver's license is essential for this position.

About Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT
At Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT, our aim is to be a hub for innovative health research, education, and workforce development across the Northern Territory. We engage with students, community, and stakeholders to provide critical programs, such as the Northern Territory Medical Program, Paramedicine, Rural Clinical School, and the University Department of Rural Health.

- Northern Territory Government legislation (the Care and Protection of Children Act 2007) now requires all individuals in child related employment or whose duties involve, or are likely to involve, contact with a child, to hold a valid 'Working with Children Clearance' (Ochre Card). This position involves child related work and is assessed as requiring a Working with Children Clearance/Ochre Card.
