About Us
Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation (SHSAC) is a not-for-profit, Aboriginal community-controlled organisation providing a broad range of primary healthcare and community services across the Big Rivers region of the Northern Territory. Guided by the values of respect, cultural safety, and community empowerment, our mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of the people and communities we serve.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Remote Area Nurse (RAN) to join our team on a full-time basis. Based in the Big Rivers region, this role offers the unique opportunity to deliver meaningful healthcare services in some of the most remote and culturally rich communities in Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality primary healthcare, including acute care, chronic disease management, and health promotion.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver holistic and culturally responsive care.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with protocols and regulatory standards.
- Support community health initiatives, education, and engagement activities.
- Participate in the on-call emergency response roster as required.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Current Registered Nurse qualification and AHPRA registration.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a remote community, emergency, or Indigenous health setting (MEC/REC/ALS certification preferred).
- Strong clinical skills with the ability to work both autonomously and in a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport across diverse communities.
- A genuine commitment to delivering culturally safe, respectful, and community-focused healthcare.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel regularly to remote communities.
What We Offer
At Sunrise, we believe in supporting our people as much as our communities. In this role, you'll enjoy:
- A competitive salary package with salary sacrificing options.
- Generous leave entitlements.
- Relocation assistance to help you settle into the region.
- Ongoing professional development opportunities and career pathways.
- A lifestyle unlike anywhere else in Australia – with the Big Rivers region offering incredible natural beauty, rich cultural experiences, and a welcoming community.
How to Apply
To be considered, please submit:
- A cover letter addressing your suitability for the role, including responses to the mandatory requirements.
- A current CV outlining your experience and qualifications.
Important Information
Sunrise does not offer visa sponsorship. Applicants must hold full Australian working rights to be considered.
Apply now and take the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the health and wellbeing of remote Indigenous Australians.
