Health Promotion Officers - Safe Tracks.
This position will be well suited to someone who has an understanding of Aboriginal cultural values, and commitment to the advancement and self-determination of Aboriginal communities.

Established in 1998,
Katherine West Health Board
is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation that provides a range of clinical, preventative and public health services to clients in the Katherine West Region of the Northern Territory. With four major health care centres and a range of satellite centres, KWHB services an area over two times the size of Tasmania (162,000km²), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most remote communities in Australia. 

Position Description

About the Opportunity

Katherine West Health Board has been funded for a proactive new program supporting Road Safety. As a Health Promotion Officer for the Safe Tracks program, you will be delivering education and activities regarding, pedestrian and road safety, driver license education, promote safer driving practices to prevent road trauma across Australia. 

Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Provide support to all primary health care programs with health promotion material development and delivery that is consistent with KWHB health promotion strategy.

  • Work alongside other KWHB staff, especially Aboriginal Health Practitioners and Community Engagement Workers, in the delivery of health promotion materials through community events, health promotion activities and participation in quality improvement exercises.

  • Delivery of positive health promotion messages through social media platforms, iPads, various health resources, and health promotion activities with a focus on improving the health literacy of our clients and enhancing

positive impacts on our clients physical, social, and emotional wellbeing.

  • Work with program coordinators and extended Primary Health Care team within KWHB to implement health promotion activities as outlined in the health promotion

plan.

  • Provide support to key stakeholders and maintain effective relationships that enable health promotion information to be disseminated effectively.
