What you will do as
the Director - Netwrork Pricing
Directors lead and manage teams conducting analytical activities that contribute to AER's purpose to make all energy consumers better off. This work may focus on specific aspects of the role of the AER, for example the prices consumers pay for their electricity and gas.

Directors report to a General Manager and operate with a high level of autonomy. They will perform the following duties:

  • Lead and manage teams conducting analytical activities including identifying and allocating tasks to team members, providing performance feedback, and ensuring their ongoing development
  • Oversee and guide analytical assessment activities to support the work of the AER
  • Identify and analyse emerging issues in the energy sector and network regulation
  • Design and facilitate processes for consultation with stakeholders, and assess submissions from stakeholders on energy sector matters
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of high-quality written material, for example: issues papers, correspondence, briefings, guidelines, reports and advice on energy market and network regulation issues
  • Plan and manage multiple projects in a fast paced and geographically dispersed work environment, with competing priorities, and provide team members with clear direction and support to ensure timely delivery
  • Represent the AER; initiate and manage stakeholder relationships with industry bodies, Government agencies (Commonwealth and State), consumer groups, and internal stakeholders
  • Manage the collection, use and storage of information associated with the AER's regulatory responsibilities in the energy sector and identify and lead initiatives to improve AER workflows and processes.

About You
All candidates are expected to meet the APS Integrated Leadership Profile (ILS) for the classification advertised. Follow the link for more information on the ILS. This role in particular requires:

  • Demonstrated experience leading a team or similar role in a fast-paced and large complex people-centred organisation
  • A well-developed understanding of, or ability to quickly acquire an understanding of, the Australian energy sector and the role, purpose and objectives of the AER
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence, persuade and negotiate effectively
  • Experience in successfully and autonomously planning, managing and delivering projects in a timely manner
  • external partners and stakeholders
  • Ability to exercise judgement and make reasonable decisions on complex issues reflecting strong analytical abilities
  • Tertiary qualifications in economics, corporate finance, law, public policy, engineering, data science or related fields with at least 5 years post-qualifications experience involving managing and leading teams.
