Who We Are
The Digital, Security and Workplace Operations Division is a vibrant and professional team that provides IT services to PM&C, its partner agencies and the Prime Minister's Office. As part of the Corporate & Governance group, the division provides strategic advice and delivery across a range of digital services including digital strategy, architecture, applications, infrastructure, cloud, cyber security and project/program delivery.
The division works closely with government and industry bodies to ensure the department remains current with emerging technology, best practice and government priorities. What You Will Do
The department is seeking a broad range of candidates to uplift its digital operating environment. In additional to specific role requirements, the successful candidates will:
- Provide leadership to hybrid technical teams to deliver high-quality digital services to the department, partner agencies and Prime Minister's Office,
- Provide accurate, concise and timely advice and support to Senior Executive and high-office holders,
- Contribute to broader divisional and branch activities such as digital strategy, service delivery and internal capability building, and
- Be based in our Barton office in Canberra, while also accessing PM&C flexible work arrangements
As we undertake exciting and challenging ICT uplift activities, the department is seeking to fill the following roles:
Director, Technical Architecture
This role is responsible for the development and carriage of PM&C digital strategies and technical architecture, ensuring alignment with departmental plans, government priorities and emerging technology. Your exceptional written and verbal communication skills, coupled with a strong foundation in digital strategy and architecture, will see you succeed in driving the Division's direction. Qualifications (or equivalent experience) in enterprise architecture will be highly regarded.

Director, Cyber Strategy and Governance
This role leads the development and delivery of the department's Cyber Security Strategy and oversees the department's governance, risk and compliance functions. You will build and mentor a team of policy, advisory, and risk professionals who shape the department's cyber risk posture. Engaging with stakeholders at all levels across the department to set the strategic direction of cyber security, this role requires a high level of business acumen and cyber security expertise.
Clearance required: Positive Vetting or ability to obtain
Director, ICT Infrastructure & Cloud Operations
The ICT Infrastructure and Cloud Operations team oversees the department's production environment including networks, cloud tenancies, infrastructure and platforms, ensuring that the environment is secure, compliant, available and fit-for-purpose. This role would be suited to an experienced director or enterprise architect who is strategic, proactive and responsive. The successful candidate will use their careful planning and well-developed communication skills to liaise with partner agencies and high-office representatives.

Director, ICT Governance & Assurance
This role requires specialist experience in ICT program/project management and delivery in the areas of governance and assurance. Your excellent organisation and communication skills, coupled with a keen eye for detail, will see you thrive in delivering complex digital outcomes, managing governance and assurance processes and producing executive-level coordination, reporting and documentation. Experience in managing government programs and projects is preferred.

Director, Cloud Delivery
The Director of Cloud Delivery is an exciting new role that will lead a team of architects, engineers and analysts to develop the department's cloud presence. Leveraging your knowledge in cloud, including best-practice architecture, governance, operations and support, you will be accountable for ensuring the department's cloud offering is modern, fit-for-purpose, cost-effective and capable of supporting an increasing AI footprint.

Director, ICT General (merit pool/expected vacancies)
These roles are expected vacancies/merit pool positions for ICT specialist directors in the areas of applications, architecture, strategy, engagement, project management and delivery. Your experience in leading high-performing technical teams, engaging with high-office stakeholders and producing executive communication, combined with your qualifications (or equivalent experience) in an ICT field, will set you up for success in this role.

What You Will Bring
Our ideal candidate will perform at the EL2 level in accordance with the PM&C Performance model.
In additional to the required technical skills and experience, the ideal candidate will:
- have strong analytical and written communication skills,
- have the ability to quickly and accurately synthesise material from a diverse range of sources into targeted briefing,
- have the judgement to manage competing priorities with limited supervision,
- have experience in managing technology services and delivery in high-pressure environments,
- display relevant technical capability in line with the specific role requirements (as outlined above), and
- bring a proactive mindset with a high level of professionalism, integrity, and a strong drive to deliver outcomes.
Prior experience working in government is desirable but not essential. We value a broad range of experience from public and private sector and the diverse perspectives varied experience can bring. Qualifications and certifications in a relevant technology field are desirable.

Eligibility
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999 , employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing. At PM&C to be eligible for this position you should be an Australian Citizen by the completion of the recruitment process , except under exceptional circumstances.
- The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.
- The successful candidate will be assessed through our pre-employment screening checks, such as an Australian Criminal History Check, and will normally be subject to a six-month probation period if new to the APS or has not yet completed their probation period elsewhere in the APS.
