Christ Church Grammar School (CCGS) is seeking an inspiring and highly skilled educational leader to take on the newly created position of Head of Wellbeing - Inclusion and Intervention. The Head of Wellbeing – Inclusion and Intervention role will be central in leading and supporting students, staff, families and allied health professionals to ensure equitable access to high-quality learning for every child. The successful candidate will bring both strategic vision and operational expertise to lead inclusive practices and targeted intervention across the School for students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Working closely with the Principal and Leadership Team, the Head of Wellbeing - Inclusion and Intervention, will:

  • Lead and manage a dedicated Wellbeing - Inclusion and Intervention Team, including teachers and co-educators.
  • Oversee identification, monitoring and support for students with diverse learning needs (disability, extension, EAL, First Nations and transition).
  • Coordinate interventions and case management processes in partnership with families and allied health professionals.
  • Provide professional learning, coaching and leadership in inclusive education, behaviour support, NCCD processes and curriculum adaptation.
  • Teach at 0.4 FTE, including small-group tuition, whole-class instruction, modelling best practice and conducting assessments.
  • Build strong, respectful relationships within the School community and promote a culture of belonging and success for every student.

About You

The successful candidate will be an experienced educational leader who demonstrates:

  • Proven experience in Special Education/Inclusion leadership (ELC – Year 6).
  • Strong capacity to lead teams with expertise in coaching, conflict resolution and professional growth.
  • Deep knowledge of contemporary wellbeing and inclusive practices, curriculum adjustments and assessment.
  • High-level communication and relationship-building skills across staff, students, families and allied health professionals.
  • A commitment to the values of CCGS: Respect, Integrity, Courage and Empathy.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary teaching qualification with full VIT registration.
  • Educational studies at the Master's level related to Special Education/Inclusion is preferred (or willingness to undertake such studies).
  • Demonstrated success in Special Education/Inclusion leadership roles within an ELC - Year 6 setting.
  • Proven experience in managing and coaching teams of educators, as well as supporting teacher professional learning and whole-school improvement.
  • Extensive knowledge of Disability Standards for Education, NCCD, behaviour support and learning needs (trauma informed; neuro-affirming etc).
  • High quality experience in curriculum development and adapting teaching for diverse learners.
  • Demonstrated understanding of EAL, First Nations perspectives and cultural inclusion.
  • Proven experience in developing rubrics and adapting continuous reporting approaches for students requiring support and/or extension.

Selection Criteria - Head of Wellbeing - Intervention and Inclusion

Leadership and Team Management

o   Proven ability to lead and manage a wide range of teams, with exceptional expertise in coaching, performance growth and accountability, conflict resolution, people leadership and fostering a collaborative, professional culture.

o   Proven organisational and strategic skills, with demonstrated expertise in scheduling and timetabling staff, coordinating student intervention programs and effectively managing resources to meet diverse learning needs.

Inclusive Education Knowledge and Compliance

o   Deep knowledge and leadership of contemporary inclusive practices and educational policy, including but not limited to the Disability Standards for Education, NCCD processes, behaviour support frameworks and regulatory compliance.

Student Support and Case Management

o   Demonstrated experience and success in identifying and supporting students with diverse needs (disability, extension, EAL, First Nations) - leading assessment, design and monitoring of ILPs, case management, and collaboration with families and allied health professionals.

Curriculum, Teaching and Assessment

o   Demonstrated expertise in leading wellbeing, inclusion, intervention and extension practices that support students with diverse needs to thrive.

o   Noted ability to strengthen inclusive curriculum and pedagogy knowledge and practice of staff through leading professional learning, modelling effective practice and ensuring equitable assessment and access for all students.

Collaboration, Change and Community Engagement

o   Demonstrated experience in building strong relationships and leading constructive change across diverse stakeholder groups.

o   Proven ability to communicate effectively and engage staff, families, allied health professionals and community organisations in the delivery of targeted programs.

o   Successful provision of high-quality learning opportunities and guidance for parents in order to build shared understanding and support for their child's learning journey.
