About the role

We have an opportunity for an experienced lawyer to join the legal team at MCK Lawyers' as a Litigation Lawyer . In this full-time role based in our Sydney CBD office, you will play a key part in handling a range debt recovery, insurance property damage claims and commercial disputes in courts across Australia. You will utilise your strong expertise in civil procedure and dispute resolution to deliver high-quality legal services to our clients.

What you'll be doing

  • Advising on and managing property damage insurance claims (mainly motor with some building and other property and assets) and commercial disputes
  • Conducting thorough legal research and analysis to build robust client cases
  • Drafting legal documents such as pleadings, affidavits and submissions
  • Representing clients in small claims assessment hearings, motions, directions and other hearings
  • Maintaining strong client relationships and providing exceptional customer service
  • Collaborating with the broader legal team on complex matters and to identify and implement process improvements

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 4 years' post-admission experience in commercial litigation, preferably with a focus on debt recovery and or insurance property damage claims incluing defendant and plaintiff claims and credit hire
  • Demonstrated expertise in Local, District and Supreme Court practice and procedure, with a strong understanding of relevant legislation, practice notes and procedure
  • Excellent legal research, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to work autonomously while also collaborating effectively within a team
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional client service
