Disability Support Worker (Nepali Speaking, Driver Licence, Own Car with Comprehensive Insurance Must Required)
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Disability Support Worker who can speak both Nepali and English fluently, holds a valid Australian driver's licence, and is able to work across varied shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays in multiple locations in client residences.
This role is based in home and community care, where you will provide one-on-one support to participants with disabilities, enabling them to live safely and independently while working towards their personal goals.
You will play an important role in improving the quality of life of participants by providing personal care, community access, cultural and emotional support, and assistance with daily living activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Personal Care & Daily Living
Assist with daily personal activities including showering, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
Support with meal preparation, feeding, and encouraging healthy eating habits.
Provide assistance with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe living environment.
Promote independence and dignity in all personal care tasks, following each participant's care plan.
Community Access & Participation
Transport participants safely to appointments, shopping, community events, and recreational activities.
Encourage and support participation in social, cultural, and leisure activities to enhance inclusion and wellbeing.
Assist participants in developing independence and confidence in community settings.Emotional & Behavioural Support
Provide compassionate and respectful support to participants with complex needs, including mental health conditions.
Implement positive behaviour support strategies in line with NDIS Behaviour Support Plans.
De-escalate challenging behaviours with patience, empathy, and consistency.
Encourage skill development in communication, problem-solving, and emotional regulation.Cultural & Language Support
Communicate clearly and effectively in both Nepali and English with participants and their families.
Provide culturally sensitive care, respecting the participant's cultural identity, values, and traditions.
Assist families who may prefer Nepali communication in understanding care plans and NDIS processes.Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate and up-to-date progress notes, daily records, and incident reports.
Report changes in behaviour, health, or circumstances to supervisors promptly.
Ensure compliance with NDIS quality and safeguarding requirements, privacy laws, and organisational policies.Teamwork & Collaboration
Work collaboratively with other support workers, therapists, coordinators, and family members to ensure consistent care.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and ongoing professional development.
Provide feedback and input to improve service delivery and participant outcomes.
Essential Requirements
Fluency in Nepali and English (verbal and written).
Current Australian Driver's Licence and access to a reliable, insured vehicle.
Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Certificate III or IV in Disability, Aged Care, Community Services, or equivalent work experience.
Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Full working rights in Australia.
Desirable Experience
Prior experience working with people with disabilities, including those with complex or high support needs.
Knowledge of NDIS systems, policies, and person-centred support frameworks.
Experience in mental health support or behaviour support implementation.
Ability to engage positively with families and stakeholders.
Additional language skills are highly regarded.
