About the Harm Reduction Coordinator role
Join our passionate Harm Reduction team and lead efforts to minimise harm and promote health among people who inject drugs. As a key part of YourCH's Community Programs division, you'll oversee outreach services, staff support, and service development to ensure access to sterile injecting equipment, naloxone, and health education. Reporting to the Community Programs Manager, this is a part-time position (0.51 FTE), working 38.4 hours per fortnight. The roster includes two full days per week (7.6 hours each) as well as two evening shifts per fortnight (4 hours each). Offices located in the Northern Suburbs.
Your Passion and Commitment will see you:
- Establish client referral pathways and partnerships with health services, including internal YourCH services.
- Engage stakeholders and join relevant networks and communities of practice.
- Manage, supervise, and support harm reduction staff.
- Deliver outreach services by providing sterile injecting equipment, educating on safer drug use, safe sex, and disposal, and supplying naloxone and health advice.
- Collaborate with the manager to support service development, including implementing recommendations from YourCH's NSP Refresh Report and implementing the Lived Experience Framework.
To succeed in this role you will have:
- Relevant qualifications or experience in health, welfare, community services, or AOD sectors.
- Current Community Overdose Prevention Education Certificate and eligibility for the Pharmacy Programs Administrator portal to provide naloxone through the Take Home Naloxone Program.
- Eligibility for an NSP Outreach Worker Card from the Victorian Department of Health.
- Current Victorian Driver's Licence.
- Understanding of relevant issues impacting those affected by alcohol and other drugs, their families and the wider community.
