About the Role

The Senior Solutions Designer leads the design of enterprise-level solutions for Educational Client. The Senior Solutions Designer ensures solution designs meet client business needs, regulatory obligations, and technical standards, while maximising the benefits of SaaS adoption. The role provides design authority and expert advisory guidance across program streams, influencing strategy and ensuring long-term maintainability and integration of the SMS within the IT ecosystem. The Senior Solutions Designer will collaborate with other lead technical specialists, Project Managers and business stakeholders to understand the needs of the organization and develop solutions that align with business goals. You will ensure that proposed solutions are scalable, secure, and able to integrate with existing IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to strategic planning, influencing technology choices, and ensuring client remains aligned with the vendor roadmap while leading the solutions design across the SMST program, ensuring coherence between system, software, and integration designs.
• Leading the production of high-level and detailed solution designs, including the review of vendor-provided designs, ensuring they meet functional and non-functional requirements and are compliant with business standards and strategic objectives.
• Support the new IT architecture for the project ensuring compliance with overall enterprise architecture; develop and implement architecture capability roadmaps and impact assessments to support business outcomes creation.
• Regularly review the ongoing suitability of all enterprise architecture policies, standards, principles, reference architectures and procedures for development and ensure the architecture is implemented in accordance with the agreed client architectural principles including; enterprise architecture, cyber security, privacy, records management, integration architecture and data governance.
• Work closely with stakeholders to create solution design documentation and architectural diagrams to communicate proposed solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders while collaborating with project managers and technical teams to ensure that the proposed solutions are feasible and can be implemented within the project timeline and budget.

• Regulatory obligations (e.g., TEQSA, ESOS, Privacy Act) as part of the design lifecycle.

Qualifications

Technical Skills Required:

• Expertise on enterprise solution and software design, in large and complex IT environments or in the higher education environments with the proven ability to act as design authority, balancing technical, business, and vendor considerations.
• Demonstrated effective written and oral communication and influencing skills with experience in building key relationships between business and technology and a proven ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience in leading integration teams and architecting solutions and services with SaaS (SaaS product implementation, integration, and configuration) and COTS solutions such as Salesforce, SAP, Mulesoft, Moodle, and mobile application frameworks.
• Extensive experience and detailed knowledge of industry-standard software development lifecycles and modern infrastructure patterns with expertise in architecture frameworks (TOGAF, ArchiMate) and design notations (UML, BPMN, ER models).
• Excellent analytical and conceptual skills including demonstrated ability to conceptualise, develop and translate complex business issues into innovative, workable solutions to meet the business needs.
• Strong knowledge of data governance, information security, and compliance frameworks relevant to higher education.
