Key Responsibilities
The purpose of the Compliance team is to be a trusted partner and advisor to the Liberty operations so that we can make effective pragmatic risk based and disciplined decisions with integrity within the local regulatory environment. The Risk & Governance team manages 4 pillars which include Governance, Risk Management, Compliance and Business Continuity and this role will contribute to the effective scope of the Risk and Governance team's responsibilities.
This role will also support the organisation in achieving their strategic objectives and providing a great customer experience. This is a dynamic role which will work across the entire business and to be successful will require tenacity, the ability to work with agility and build strong trusted relationships. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Respond to questions that arise from the business with respect any Compliance activities.
- Assist with the management of the annual Compliance Plan and monitoring calendar, aligned to business priorities and risk appetite.
- Develop, embed and ongoing review of the various frameworks, policies, procedures and tools to manage the regulatory obligations of the business as well as performing the various compliance tasks to manage these regulatory obligations,
- Deliver various 2nd Line tasks as part of the compliance framework and the monitoring and supervision program for Liberty and our Service Provider network. This includes responsibility to deliver compliance related tasks, maintaining registers, control testing and various reporting to ensure that Liberty meets the obligations as specified within internal policies and procedures as well as with relevant legislation and regulations.
- Work with 1st Line to investigate, monitor, record and escalate incidents for Liberty and our Service Provider network. Perform deep dive activities to identify themes and work with the business to rectify, report to the senior stakeholders and various committees to provide a health check of the business including opportunities for improvement.
About you
- Extensive experience in a Compliance role within the financial services industry.
- Experience in general insurance operational roles such as underwriting, operations or claims roles highly desirable.
- Experience in general insurance or general insurance broking required.
- Proven, strong knowledge of industry processes and regulations, in particular experience with APRA and ASIC and AFS licensing.
- Outstanding communication, relationship development and key stakeholder management abilities.
- An analytical mindset with excellent organizational skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration or other relevant fields are highly desirable.
