Based at our St Lucia campus
We are seeking a Principal Coordinator, Neurodivergent Hub to lead the strategic development and operational coordination of UQ's Neurodivergent Hub. This is an exciting opportunity to foster academic success, community, and meaningful inclusion for neurodivergent students. This role blends student-facing support with program leadership and advocacy for systemic change, ensuring the Hub reflects best-practice, neuro-affirming design. You will collaborate with faculties and other teams to embed sustainable support for neurodivergent students throughout their academic journey.
Key responsibilities will include:
Program Leadership & Strategy
Lead the strategic development and delivery of the Neurodivergent Hub's programs, ensuring they align with university goals. This includes developing the Hub's framework, creating high-impact initiatives, and establishing metrics to monitor student engagement and program impact.
Student Support & Engagement
Serve as the primary contact for neurodivergent students, offering guidance and fostering an inclusive community. You will also facilitate peer-mentoring and resource-sharing initiatives to build student self-advocacy and independence.
Institutional Collaboration
Work collaboratively across UQ with staff, student representatives, and external organizations to identify and reduce systemic barriers to participation. This involves co-designing services, establishing referral pathways, and advocating for neuro-affirming best practices.
Training & Administration
Design and deliver training and resources for both staff and students to increase understanding of neurodivergence and improve inclusive practices. You will also oversee the day-to-day operations of the Hub, including budgeting, reporting, and supervising placement students and volunteers.
Essential
A tertiary qualification in psychology, education, social work, or a related field, with at least four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated understanding of neurodivergent experiences (e.g., autism, ADHD, dyslexia) and the ability to apply neuro-affirming, person-centred approaches in a support setting.
Proven experience in developing, coordinating, and evaluating support programs, workshops, or student-led initiatives. This includes the ability to lead projects and manage competing priorities effectively.
High-level communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills. You must be able to build strong, collaborative relationships and work effectively with diverse stakeholders to improve programs and services.
Desirable
Lived experience as a neurodivergent person and/or extensive experience working with neurodivergent communities.
Experience supervising staff or volunteers in a support-focused setting, coupled with a knowledge of Universal Design for Learning and current trends in neurodiversity support.
