About us

St Lucia Kindergarten is our not-for-profit Kindergarten, providing a safe & inspiring learning environment for children since 1948. Catering for up to 44 children each day, we believe children learn best through well-planned & supported play.

Role 1: Assistant Teacher

In this role, the Assistant Teacher (Educator) will be an integral part of the team working alongside a qualified Teacher to deliver a high quality Kindergarten program.

Opportunity: Permanent Part-Time position (with 9 month probation period) from January 2026

Days/Hours:Thursdays and Fridays from 7:30am to 4:50pm with paid recess leave during QLD school holidays

Qualifications Required:Certificate III OR Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent) + Valid Blue Card + First Aid


Role 2: Inclusion Support & After Kindy Care Lead Educator

In this role, this Educator will be an integral part of the team in a dual role of Inclusion Support Assistant for part of the day in our Kindergarten program, and Lead Educator for After Kindy Care at the end of the day.

Opportunity: 12 Month Contract from January 2026 to December 2026 (with ongoing work possible)

Days/Hours:Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10:00am to 5:30pm with 30 minute paid break and paid recess leave during QLD school holidays

Qualifications Required: Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent + Valid Blue Card + First Aid + Willingness to be a Responsible Person in Charge (RPIC)

Your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • developing relationships with children and families
  • ensuring a safe & well-maintained learning environment
  • developing/planning/implementing high-quality educational and child-centred learning programs
  • supporting written documentation, incl. learning observations, critical reflections and whole group plans based on Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) & National Quality Framework (NQF) guidelines
  • participating in regular team meetings & professional development opportunities
  • joining Kindy & community events, incl. BBQs, Harmony Day Breakfast & Open Day

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need the following:

  • Full Australian working rights essential
  • Certificate III or Diploma of Early Childhood Education or higher essential
  • 2+ years previous Early Childhood Education experience
  • Current Working with Children Check essential
  • AppropriateFirst Aid qualifications or willingness to obtain
