Responsibilities

• Food preparation for morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late afternoon snack
• Safe food handling for allergic/anaphylactic children
• Meal plating and service and taking to classrooms
• Kitchen cleaning and dishwashing
• Cleaning of office, staffroom, foyer and other areas if needed
• Cutting of varied meats
• Food safety and hygiene procedures
• Positively promote and market the centre to families and the community
• Be an advocate of the Montessori Method to parents and potential clients
• Respect and support colleagues by developing positive and ethical channels of communication that are based on principles of mutual respect, equity and fairness
• Attend meetings as requested
• Become familiar with Montessori Academy Policies and Procedures

Key Competencies:

• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
• Cert III in commercial cookery or cert IV in hospitality
• Cert III in Early Childhood Education and Care (or ACECQA equivalent)
• Current Working with Children Check
• First Aid Certificate or willing to obtain one
• Be available for shifts between 8:30am and 3:00pm Monday to Friday
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively in a team environment
• Strong understanding of the importance of family communications
• Strong understanding of the National Quality Framework and National Quality Standard
• Commitment to the holistic development of their class
