Facilities Operations Officer

We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Facilities Operations Officer to join our Infrastructure Services team. In this role, you will assist the Coordinator of Building & Facilities Operations in supervising contractors, delivering minor capital works, and maintaining building assets in line with the Asset Management Plan. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a practical building background to contribute to the upkeep and improvement of our client's facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise contractors and minor capital works projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to a high standard.
  • Maintain Council building assets in accordance with the Asset Management Plan.
  • Undertake minor maintenance activities, including incidental signage maintenance.
  • Monitor and review programmed maintenance activities and take remedial action when required.
  • Organise quotations, arrange for subcontractors, and manage access to Council facilities.
  • Ensure customer service requests are actioned and recorded from receipt to completion.
  • Assist with budget inspections, reporting, and contract management tasks.

About You:

  • Relevant building/trade qualification, highly regarded.
  • Practical experience in building maintenance and contractor supervision.
  • Strong organisational, administrative, and project coordination skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Work Health & Safety requirements and the ability to enforce compliance.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in materials procurement and budget management, highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of building-related legislation and regulations, highly regarded.
