National Meat Operations Manager

We are currently seeking applicants for the role of National Meat Operations Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales and Performance Management
- Prepare and participate in the preparation of budgets;
- Assist in the development of strategic plans for company activity;
- Maximise sales and profitability; deliver sales budgets and drive a culture of sales with profit
- Plan strategies and stores actions to drive sales for all events
- Control costs such as wages, stock loss, expenses within budgetary guidelines through the State Meat Supervisors
- Suggest improvements based on benchmark practices. Identify customer preferences and forecast consumer trends;
- Discover and new products and check the quality and popularity of those already on our shelves;
- Monitor stock levels and make plans for ordering to deliver highest starting GP;
- Create reports on sales, budgets and customer satisfaction and adjust strategies accordingly;
- Forge and maintain relationships with suppliers to promote fair dealing and execution of promotional plans
- Attend events, fairs and exhibitions to remain up-to-date with the market's trends.
- Create layouts that drive new and innovation and changing customer trends but allows stores to deliver highest profitability
Inventory Management
- Ensure effective inventory management- stocktaking, order management, movement and transfer, optimum stock utilisation, stock return and shrinkage;
- Review and analyse stock and sales reports, monitoring over and under stocks, implementing corrective action to be taken;
- Review and effectively deal with fast/ slow lines, new ranges and end of ranges and implement necessary action;
- Provision of feedback to concept on sales, stock positions and product feedback.
Business Development
- Manage roll-out of new projects and implementation of projects through State Meat Supervisors
- Understand site dynamics (demographics, consumer behaviour, market understanding etc.)
- Manage roll out requirements of store take overs, concept stores and new store set ups
- Maintain and promote third party alliances such as supplier relationships and contracts;
- Monitor competitor and event activities.
Operational Standards
Through the State Meat Supervisors:
- Ensure all stores are compliant and consistent with the store operating standards across all states; Ritchies operating standards, OH&S (Customer and team safety), Food safety, labelling requirements and weights & measures
- Ensure all stores maintain quality of products;
- Ensure all the stores are in compliance with the company policy, and legislative commitments to employment and safety standards;
- Ensure all the stores portray the company image in all aspects of presentation and culture (being The Friendliest Team)
- Ensure all store promotions are effectively planned, executed and maintained to Ritchies plan;
- Manage maintenance of equipment and provide technical support where necessary; including all meat vans maintained and serviced correctly
People Development
- Manage and support the recruitment and succession process of direct reports; with an emphasis on a culture of being "The Friendliest team"
- Ensure that all direct reports understand their job and are inducted well within the company and mentor/support upskilling of State Meat Supervisors
- Monitor tasks and accountabilities of direct reports and contribute to performance appraisals;
- Drive motivation levels of the direct reports; with a strong focus on their culture and leadership around being "The Friendliest Team"
- Support employee relations.
Education and experience
Degree in relevant field;
and/or a solid mix of the following:
- At least 3 years experience in a management position;
- At least 5 years experience in Meat Retail/Food Retail/ Supermarkets/ or comparable high volume retail companies;
- Proven experience as a retail buyer or relevant role;
Outstanding communication abilities; - Excellent organisational skills;
- Demonstrable aptitude in effective negotiating;
- Up to speed with purchasing best practices;
- Familiarity with market research, data analysis and forecasting techniques;
- Excellent knowledge of basic PC applications
- Knowledge of business and management principles and practices;
- Knowledge of financial and accounting principles and practices;
- Knowledge of human resource principles and practices;
- Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
