The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Shutdown Superintendent to support a well-established Queensland based client. In this role, you will take ownership of coordinating and supervising shutdown activities across their processing plant, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with schedule, cost, and quality expectations.

This position can be offered on a FIFO or DIDO basis.

What the role entails:

  • Assist in developing shutdown scopes, schedules, and resource plans.
  • Coordinate day-to-day shutdown activities and work fronts.
  • Lead toolbox talks, daily briefings, and contractor allocations
  • Monitor progress against schedule and escalate delays or risks.
  • Ensure safe execution of all shutdown tasks and adherence to permits.
  • Supervise trades, crews, and contractors to achieve targets.
  • Support procurement, materials coordination, and work pack readiness.
  • Track costs, resourcing, and performance during shutdown execution.
  • Drive safety culture, inspections, and field leadership activities.
  • Liaise with operations, maintenance, engineering, and contractors to ensure alignment.
  • Participate in shutdown debriefs, reporting, and lessons learned.

What you will need:

  • Experience supervising or coordinating major shutdowns in a processing plant environment.
  • Strong leadership and the ability to manage multi-disciplinary crews and contractors.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver shutdown activities safely and to plan.
  • Solid understanding of maintenance processes, scheduling, and work management systems.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A hands-on, solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail.
