About the role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Chef/Cook to join our tight-knit team at Hope Island Early Learning Sanctuary. This part-time role will see you responsible for preparing healthy, nutritious and delicious meals for our young learners aged 0-5 years old. Working closely with our educators, you will play a vital part in supporting the overall health and wellbeing of the children in our care.

What you'll be doing

  1. Plan, prepare and cook a variety of healthy, balanced meals and snacks for the children
  2. Ensure all meals adhere to food safety, hygiene and dietary requirements
  3. Work collaboratively with the teaching team to understand and cater for any dietary needs or preferences
  4. Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment
  5. Monitor food stock levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed
  6. Share your knowledge and passion for nutrition with the children through fun, engaging activities

What we're looking for

  1. Relevant Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
  2. Minimum 2 years' experience as a Chef/Cook, ideally within an early learning or childcare setting
  3. Strong understanding of nutrition, food safety and hygiene practices
  4. Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively with educators and children
  5. Genuine interest in supporting the health and wellbeing of young children
  6. Current Working with Children Check and Food Safety Supervisor certificate
