As we continue to grow, so too does our team. We are looking for the right candidate to take on the role of Deputy Project Manager . This is a Full-Time role, based in our Port Macquarie office on the beautiful Hastings River in Port Macquarie, NSW.
The Deputy Project Manager will support a key contract to plan, maintain, analyse and report on key project performance indicators including cost, schedule and risk as well as supporting the Project Manager in ensuring that the project satisfies the requirements of the contract.
Key Accountabilities
- Support the Project Manager in the safe and successful delivery of projects through prototype, design, production, testing and acceptance within the constraints of quality, time, cost and performance
- Lead project controls team members, including project support officer, scheduler, cost controller, contract specialist and document controller
- Implement right-sized project controls, visual aids, dashboards and reporting appropriate for the phase and complexity of the project
- Manage Performance Measurement Baselines as delegated by the Project Manager
- Support the Project Manager to ensure delivery of contractual commitments through strong stakeholder management that enhance the reputation of Birdon
- Provide expert commercial advice that optimises Birdon's outcomes across contract, subcontracts and supply agreements
- Raise and prepare contract change proposals for internal and client approval on behalf of the Project Manager
- Manage sub-contractors associated with the project as delegated by the Project Manager
- Provide regular reporting to the project leadership team
- Liaise with client representatives and provide project reporting to internal and external stakeholders as required
- Be intimately familiar with contract requirements and deliverables, ensuring Mission System and Support System deliverables are met
- Proactively promote quality, environmental responsibility & safety within the workplace
Actively participate in the continued growth of the business
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Essential
- At least 3 years' experience delivering high- value projects in the marine industry
- At least 1 years' experience in high-value contract management for government or Defence clients
- Experience managing a team of people, including subcontractors and suppliers
- Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Project.
Hold or ability to obtain at minimum a Baseline security clearance.
Desirable
- Formal training in project management, and/or tertiary qualification in business management/administration
- Familiarity with Defence Procurement Guidelines and Contracting processes
- Formal training / demonstrable experience with team leadership and / or people management
Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Project.
