An exciting temporary full-time opportunity currently exists for an experienced Senior Communications Officer to join the Health Professional Councils Authority (HPCA), based at our Pitt Street Office up to 8 January
Crown Clerk 9/10, salary from $129,464 - $142,665 plus Super and annual leave loading

What you'll be doing
The Senior Communications Officer plays an integral role in building awareness and understanding of how the health regulatory system in NSW protects public safety.
In this position, you will:
- provide strategic communications advice
- adeptly manage media issues and relationships
- design and execute communications plans that are creative and considered
- build narratives and messages that cut through
- deliver high-quality content.
Your efforts will connect professional and consumer audiences with the important work the HPCA and the 15 health professional councils do to ensure health practitioners in NSW practise safely. You will also produce clear, impactful internal communications that keep HPCA staff and council members informed and aligned to strategic goals.
About you
We are seeking a motivated and committed communications strategist with:
- substantial experience and proven skills in designing and delivering communication strategies and/or stakeholder engagement plans for a large, complex organisation
- a thorough knowledge of the Australian media landscape and proven ability in issues management, including a minimum of 5 years' experience in media relations in an issues-rich environment
- advanced written and verbal communications skills, including a thorough understanding of how to use narrative and storytelling to achieve communications goals
- the ability to craft sophisticated and targeted messages that position issues and organisations
- skill in translating complex information for a wide range of audiences
- a portfolio of creative content examples across a range of channels that have helped organisations achieve their aims
- an ability to source information, research issues, analyse results, and use them to inform and evaluate your work
- a track record of building trusted, cross-functional relationships at all levels that deliver great outcomes
a thorough understanding of best-practice internal communications and an ability to work collaboratively with senior leaders to connect people with organisational purpose.
Relevant tertiary qualifications or experience. Journalism qualifications are desirable but not essential.

Working at Health Professional Councils Authority
The Health Professional Councils Authority (HPCA) is an executive agency of the NSW Ministry of Health. We play an important role in protecting the health and safety of the public, working together with the 15 NSW Health Professional Councils in managing complaints about NSW health practitioners.
The position is based at the HPCA Pitt Street offices, located only a short walking distance from Central Station and Belmore Park. There are a number of facilities located within the building, including a food court, a rooftop garden, yoga and Pilates sessions, and end-of-trip amenities including bike storage.
