About the opportunity

As the Senior Environment Advisor - Compliance, you'll support environmental governance and regulatory assurance across Inland Rail, providing expert support in compliance monitoring, data management, and reporting. You'll manage environmental registers, drive data-informed decision-making, and ensure alignment with statutory obligations and approvals.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Support the Principal Environmental Advisor in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the compliance Environmental Management System (EMS), compliance frameworks and audit schedules.
• Coordinate environmental reporting at both project and program levels, including metrics, performance targets, registers and compliance tracking.
• Lead site inspections and audits across Inland Rail projects to ensure compliance with approvals, permits and licenses.
• Provide technical input into environmental compliance frameworks, planning documents and management strategies.
• Maintain the EMS and carry out regular audits and quality checks.
• Where requested, conduct ICAM investigations into potential incidents and non-compliances across the IR Program.
• Travel to Inland Rail's sites as required.

About You

You're a proactive and experienced environmental professional who thrives in complex, multi-stakeholder environments who enjoys being the detail of data and comfortable with routine compliance tasks that requires precision and consistency.

You will be able to demonstrate

• Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or an environmentally related discipline.
• Previous experience in environment compliance ideally within infrastructure, construction, or rail projects.
• Proficient personal organisation, written communication and project management skills.
• Good understanding of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and customised software packages.
• Ability to work autonomously.
