WHSE Advisor
to join our team and support the safety of our construction projects. Based in Sydney, this role is integral in ensuring safe work practices, compliance with regulations, and fostering a positive safety culture within our business.

This role is for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and values building strong, effective relationships. You'll work directly with project teams, guiding decisions and driving daily improvements in safety outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively embed yourself within project teams to offer hands-on safety support and address WHS requirements directly on site.
  • Champion a positive safety culture, collaborating with frontline workers and operational leaders to exceed compliance standards.
  • Identify potential safety risks and work closely with site teams to implement practical prevention strategies.
  • Monitor WHSE performance, analyse key metrics, incident trends, and near misses, providing actionable insights for improvements.
  • Lead or assist in incident and near miss investigations (including ICAM), ensuring comprehensive reports, corrective actions, and shared learnings.
  • Support the development and execution of corrective action plans stemming from audits, inspections, or incident reviews.
  • Facilitate safety training sessions and toolbox talks, ensuring clear communication and adoption of safety principles at the site level.
  • Assist in WHSE audits and health checks, contributing to actionable improvement plans with site and project managers.
  • Enhance WHSE systems and procedures to maintain compliance and reflect operational needs.
  • Support subcontractor safety performance management by identifying recurring issues and coordinating resolution sessions with operational leaders.
  • Strengthen communication and collaboration between site teams and head office to bolster problem-solving and alignment across the business.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 5+ years of experience in construction safety roles, with familiarity in site operations and contractor environments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of WHS legislation, Codes of Practice, and NSW regulations.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships from subcontractors to senior leadership.
  • A collaborative approach coupled with the ability to navigate sensitive or complex conversations constructively.
  • Experience in delivering safety training, leading toolbox talks, and uplifting WHSE culture on-site.
  • Background in incident investigations, preferably using the ICAM methodology, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills, a proactive attitude, and a hands-on, approachable style.

Why Join Versatile Construction?

  • Become part of a company that values safety, quality, and practical leadership beyond just processes.
  • Gain experience across diverse construction projects in Sydney, while operating primarily from a key site.
  • Collaborate with a supportive team committed to improving WHSE outcomes.

If you're a WHSE professional who prioritizes practical, people focussed safety and enjoys working on-site, we'd love to hear from you. Submit your CV and a brief cover letter outlining your experience and the value you'll bring to this role.
