Ampersand is partnering with a small but mighty advisory firm in Sydney that's entering a new chapter of growth and evolution. We're seeking an experienced and energised Head of Human Resources to take ownership of the HR function and guide its next phase of maturity.

This is an opportunity for a people leader who enjoys both strategy and delivery; someone who can set direction, lead with empathy, and stay close to the action. You'll oversee all aspects of the employee lifecycle, from talent acquisition to engagement, development, and performance, while mentoring a capable HR team that's eager to learn and grow under your guidance.

Working closely with an empowering and entrepreneurial leadership team, you'll play a key role in shaping a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. It's a hands-on, high-impact role where your insights and influence will genuinely help steer the firm's growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the HR function, ensuring strong alignment with business goals.
  • Coach, mentor, and empower a small team of HR professionals to deliver exceptional outcomes.
  • Drive core HR initiatives across recruitment, engagement, performance, and capability development.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to provide pragmatic advice and strategic direction on people matters.
  • Enhance systems, processes, and policies to support a consistent and engaging employee experience.
  • Promote an inclusive, growth-oriented culture across the organisation.

About You

  • Broad HR generalist experience, ideally within professional or advisory services (accounting, consulting, legal or property)
  • Proven leadership capability with a collaborative, mentoring approach.
  • Comfortable balancing operational delivery with strategic planning.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, able to build trust across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • A self-starter who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys creating clarity from complexity.

If you're ready to make your mark by leading a growing People function and contributing to the success of a dynamic advisory firm, we'd love to hear from you.
