The Client

TalentBlue has partnering with a highly respected fencing contractor to find a hands-on Office Manager. Established in 1990, our client specialises in commercial fencing solutions for local government, education, and sports sectors. While part of a larger group, this unit operates with the agility of a focused SME. We are looking for an all-rounder who understands the rhythms of a small business and can drive efficiency in a practical, operational capacity.

The Role

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be the backbone of the office, overseeing daily operations and leading a small administration team.This role moves away from theoretical strategy and focuses on execution—ensuring the business is compliant, tenders are submitted on time, and the office runs smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tender & Contract Management: Take ownership of sales administration with a specific focus on managing and completing tender documentation and contracts.
  • Compliance & ISO Oversight: Maintain and embed company systems to ensure full compliance with ISO obligations (Quality 9001, Environment 14001, and Safety
  • Office Management: Oversee daily business operations, ensuring workflows are efficient and aligned with company goals.
  • Process Improvement: Identify operational issues and implement practical strategies to improve efficiency across the business.
  • HR Administration: Administer HR processes such as hiring, training coordination
  • Team & Safety Culture: Manage the small administration team and promote a safe, respectful workplace culture, ensuring alignment with OHS regulations.
  • General Staff Support: Coordinate essential team requirements and address day-to-day employee queries.

About You

We are less concerned with formal degrees and more interested in practical experience. You are likely someone who has "worn many hats" in a small-to-medium business environment.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Operational Experience: 3-5+ years of experience in business operations, office management, or similar roles.
  • System Proficiency: Strong proficiency in business management software is essential, specifically Xero, CRM (simPRO), and Excel.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations, with the ability to navigate Fair Work requirements when necessary.
  • HR Administration: practical knowledge of HR administration – performance cycles, recruitment, training
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead a team and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Tender & Contract Management: Demonstrated experience in end-to-end sales administration, specifically in preparing, coordinating, and submitting tender documentation and managing commercial contracts.
  • ISO & Compliance Knowledge: Proven ability to maintain and audit Integrated Management Systems, specifically regarding ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO Environment), and ISO Safety).
  • Operational Software Proficiency: Advanced competency in Microsoft Excel and Xero, with specific experience in simPRO or similar trade/construction CRM software strongly preferred.
  • Small Business Operations: A track record of at least 2-3 years in a business operations or office management role, including experience improving workflows and managing a small administration team.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations, with the ability to ensure company-wide compliance.

Salary and Location

  • Salary Package: $135,900 package, including:

  • $120,000 per annum salary

  • $14,400 SG superannuation (12%)

  • Terms: Full-time, ongoing.

  • Other Benefits: A company mobile phone, on site carparking, and a company credit card.
