We're looking for a Senior Analyst (Rail Service Planning) to join our passionate and customer-focused Rail Service Planning team. About us:

The Rail Service Planning team plan and grow public transport use by improving rail services, as part of a highly integrated transport network. We do this through:

• Leading rail timetable development to meet customer needs, accommodate system constraints and make efficient use of resources.

• Anticipating and responding to travel demand by analysing patterns and identifying opportunities to improve services.

• Ensuring that the high capacity of rail is utilised to its full potential.

• Supporting strategic planning initiatives by providing customer and operational insights that inform long-term service and infrastructure decisions.

• Advocating for increased rail services that expand travel opportunities and better connect communities across Southeast Queensland.

About the role:

As a Senior Analyst (Rail Service Planning), you'll play a key role in planning and delivering rail public transport service improvements. You'll work with real-world data to understand how people travel, identify opportunities for better services, and help shape the timetables that move thousands of people every day. This role is more than just technical analysis, it's about using data to tell stories, influence decisions,

and make a meaningful impact on how public transport works for our communities.

Key responsibilities:

• Analyse and advise: Use demand modelling, customer feedback and performance data to guide service planning.

• Measure and evaluate: Develop tools and metrics to assess customer benefits and operational impacts, supporting funding submissions and option evaluations.

• Visualise and communication: Create engaging visualisations and reports that make complex insights clear and actionable.

• Collaborate and mentor: Work closely with planners, modellers, and stakeholders, while supporting team capability through mentoring and knowledge sharing.

• Contribute strategically: Provide expert advice to support planning decisions, funding submissions, and ministerial briefings.

About you:

• Passionate about improving public transport and making a positive impact on the community.

• Experienced in transport planning, modelling, or analysis, ideally in a rail or public transport context.

• Skilled in data analysis tools like Python, Tableau, PowerBI, or QGIS to explore and present data.

• A strong communicator who knows how to tailor technical insights for different audiences, from planners to decision makers.

• A collaborative team player who can build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.

What you will need:

• A relevant tertiary qualification is highly desirable (e.g., data science, mathematics, urban planning, engineering).

• Experience working with transport demand modelling, forecasting tools, or transport data.

• A commitment to excellence and a drive to deliver innovative solutions.
