The Volunteer Support Officer is responsible for building and sustaining a strong volunteer workforce that enhances the delivery of Better Connected Community Services' aged care and community programs. This role focuses on recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers so they feel valued, confident, and capable in their roles. By fostering a positive and inclusive volunteer culture, the Volunteer Support Officer ensures that volunteers contribute meaningfully to client wellbeing while also experiencing personal growth and satisfaction.

Duties and Accountabilities

As the Volunteer Support Officer, you will:

Volunteer Management
  • Recruit, screen, and onboard new volunteers across various programs.
  • Develop and deliver orientation and training sessions.
  • Match volunteers to suitable roles based on skills, interests, and client needs.
  • Provide ongoing supervision, support, and performance feedback.
  • Implement strategies to retain and recognise volunteers.
Administrative & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records using a volunteer management system.
  • Collect and report on volunteer hours, participation, and impact.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and safeguarding standards.
  • Support preparation of volunteer reports and funding data as required.
Engagement & Promotion
  • Promote volunteer opportunities through community events, social media, and networks.
  • Develop volunteer communication tools (e.g. newsletters, handbooks).
  • Organise volunteer appreciation events and recognition activities.
  • Liaise with staff to identify volunteer needs and improve integration into services.

This is a part-time role (30 hours per week across 4 days), based at Miranda, with the opportunity to make a real impact in your local community.
