Salary Range: (Band 8) AUD $150, $162,791.00 plus superannuation and benefits.

Remuneration stated is for full-time positions

Work type: Temporary full-time until June 2026, with potential for extension (not guaranteed).

City Planning and Economic Development Services, including its Development Services branch, shapes Brisbane's future through strategic planning, economic strategies, quality urban design and key legislation such as the Brisbane City Plan 2014. We monitor growth under the City Plan and the South East Queensland Regional Plan to ensure development aligns with Brisbane Vision 2031.

Our purpose is to create a future Brisbane that celebrates its unique character while driving sustainable growth, enhancing liveability, economy, environment and identity. Through Development Services, we deliver high-quality, sustainable development outcomes via efficient, professional assessment and management processes, systems and practices.

As the Strategic Project and Improvement Manager, you will lead and manage strategic projects and business improvement initiatives that shape the future of Brisbane's development services. You will oversee a portfolio of projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to a high standard, while driving capability building and fostering a values-based, customer-focused culture. This role requires strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to identify opportunities for innovation and integrated planning. You will play a key role in leveraging technology and systems to enhance efficiency and customer experience across the branch.

To be considered, you will have:

• proven people leadership experience, including managing and developing high-performing teams
• demonstrated success leading strategic projects and business improvement initiatives
• strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex issues
• expertise in project governance and applying consistent project management methodologies
• advanced communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including negotiation and influencing
• ability to drive change and build organisational capability and agility
• understanding of systems thinking and technology to support digital transformation, and
• tertiary qualifications in business, planning or a related field (desirable).
