Operations Manager Overview
We are looking for a full-time (37.5 hours per week) Director of Events who can support our growing events department. As the Director of Events, you will have a diverse and varied role. You'll collaborate with our global teams to support company initiatives and uncover innovative solutions, while taking a proactive approach to your day-to-day responsibilities.
Responsibilities & Duties
- With support and advice from other colleagues (e.g. HR, Finance and APAC Management Team), responsible for managing the full range of people issues for those in the assigned team, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee engagement and more
 - Manage internal and external budgetary requirements, including allocating staffing charges, developing budget sheets, reconciling all events and more
 - Ensure that all team members develop and maintain beneficial working relationships with key suppliers and clients; participate in office-based and off-site client or supplier meetings; ensure individual client or supplier programs and commercial agreements are supported and adhered to
 - Manage all aspects of events function, such as equipment purchases for and used by the Events Team, delivery, performance and standards of the Events Team as well as management of events for small clients, international events for regional and international clients, and delivery of innovative, creative and excellent services to all stakeholders
 - Creation and implementation of the Australian event strategy, identifying new opportunities for growth and commercial success in current and new territories
 - Develop best practice client acquisitions, retention and delivery to be leveraged by TAG APAC across the region
 - Generate additional business from existing clients and actively seek new clients by networking, client recommendations and cross selling with other divisions
 - Research, write, design and present creative proposals to meet client requirements and win business
 - Provide a complete and comprehensive event management service, from enquiry and proposal through to booking and completion with a proactive and consultative approach; this includes ensuring the health and safety aspects of each event
 - Manage a variety of events simultaneously, including some larger complex events, while delivering the highest possible standards with a personalised and individual approach to each client
 - With the support of the marketing team, work on TAG social media, press contacts and other ways to gain coverage and awareness of the TAG Events Team
 - Perform other duties as assigned
 
Qualifications
- BS or BA degree in Business Management/Administration or related field; in lieu of education credentials, equivalent combination of education and directly related experience
 - At least seven years' experience within the event industry (events agency preferred)
 - At least three years of experience in management capacity (five years preferred)
 - Experience in managing at least ten events internationally
 - Experience with budget of at least $500K budgets and writing proposals
 - Experience working alongside an air travel team
 - Experience working with event registration technology (registration sites)
