About The OPPORTUNITY –
A new opportunity for a
Product Safety Engineer
to join the Maritime - DDG Program, reporting to the Product Engineering Manager. This role plays a critical part in ensuring our products meet the highest safety standards throughout their lifecycle. This role is predominantely safety focused - looking to identify risks and hazards in a production environment.

This role will see you working as part of the production engineering team in an autonomous function. You will be responsible for supporting and providing subject matter expert (SME) knowledge in product safety, providing guidance on any safety review, reviewing artefacts from the customer and providing feedback to designers ensuring that all safety and hazardous elements have been reviewed and considered. You will help to develop process around safety, developing impact assessment reports to inform various stakeholders (internal and external).

This role will see you:

  • Undertake the identification, assessment, mitigation and management of safety issues and hazards from the review of drawings and artefacts
  • Develop and/or update extant safety artefacts
  • Proactively review documentation to foresee potential risks and hazards and to provide solutions
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and other stakeholders within Platform Installer (PI, CEIP and CLCM teams), to ensure safety requirements are integrated into design and development

About YOU

  • Engineering degree of equivalent. Alternatively, experience from a trade background may also be considered
  • Experience in product safety, system safety or safety engineering within a fast-paced production environment
  • Knowledge of safety engineering standards such as MIL-STD-882 (essential)
  • Strong analytical and communication skills to ask questions and liaise with various stakeholders
  • The ability to be proactive and seek out the relevant information or documentation – using initiative and being adaptable to changes
  • The ability to work within a team but autonomously
  • NV1 Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
  • Hold an NSSIC or eligibility to obtain
