Production Process Engineer (F&B), Australia
As a Production Process Engineer, you are responsible for optimizing and maintaining production processes, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and adherence to quality standards. This role integrates engineering principles with maintenance practices to troubleshoot equipment, improve system performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. You will be required to oversee preventative maintenance programs, manage contractors to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards, collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges, and implement innovative solutions to enhance production workflows while ensure facility and equipment is safe, clean & maintained in a manner fitting a best-in-class food manufacturing facility. Safety will be at the forefront of every activity; uphold all policies and procedures to meet Symrise's expectations and standards.
The Position:
Maintenance/Engineering
- Manage the preventative and reactive maintenance program
- Supervise various maintenance tasks, installation and inspection of machines, inspection/co-ordination of electrical equipment and carry out preventive maintenance work orders to ensure that all machines and equipment remain operational ready
- Plan maintenance activities such as preventive, predictive maintenance and calibration through systems such as computerized maintenance management (CMMS), ensure maintenance documentation compliance, standard operating procedures, work instructions, streamline processes related to service contracts and MRO parts ordering administration
- Implement Site Master Plan and all other projects identified as key to the business's strategic growth plan.
- Ensure proper safety procedures are in place for Production Processes, Site Projects and Maintenance activities.
- To have permit to work processes in place and ensure all necessary documents i.e. Risk Assessment, Method of Statement, Fall Prevention Plan etc should be submitted and reviewed properly before the job execution and direct all involved parties to ensure all safety standards are met within the site and compliance to local Workplace Health Safety rules and regulations
- Manage all Engineering requests including logging of the requests and steps taken to resolve all requests
- CMMS to be up to date and maintained with reports provided when required.
- Engage in Continuous Improvement projects and support Production Team in TPM.
Production
- Develop an understanding of the production processes and how they are managed.
- Investigate and resolve production issues related to equipment. Ensure any corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner and documented through correct procedures
- Work closely with the Site Manager to support all production and ancillary areas to ensure minimum maintenance downtime, operating a total maintenance program including proactive support, reliability driven and safety-first mindset in a GMP environment with this position including influence & responsibilities in Utility Operations, Facilities & Maintenance.
EHS
- Use of Safety Management System (SAI360) included with all tasks. Engineering will be key in maintaining a high safety culture. Reactive and initiative-taking entries will be required.
- External Relationship Management with contractors and suppliers to ensure that Symrise expectations and standards are adhered to.
Site Management
- Data Collection and Reports to be completed on a weekly and monthly basis. Ensure the timely submission and accuracy of information.
- Manage Capex and Opex projects and Engineering Budgets.
- Maintain database for all maintenance & project documents / drawings.
- Together with Regulatory, update IMS procedures and Policies considering Symrise expectations and ensure Symrise standards are adhered to.
- Control all invoices and quotes related to Engineering activities on Symrise site.
- Liaise with contractors to ensure all pricing is fair and required for the site.
- Support Site Manage on Capex and Opex Budgets.
- Coordinate with the local Finance Team to manage necessary procedural formalities of capital expenditure from initiation till closing of a project.
- Maintain the financial summary for the projects mentioning details on PO, payments, and ETD (estimate to complete) details.
- Internal Relationship Management to manage stakeholders' interests and expectations.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Engineering degree/diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 3 -5 years of relevant working experience in Industrial & Production Operations/Maintenance/Engineering
- Has strong organizational, time management with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet production deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to analyze data, data-driven approach with the adoption of MS Office Suite (Excel) with excellent verbal and written communication skills to put together scope/project documents etc
- Is familiar with Production Operations experience and have good working proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with CAD software knowledge
- Exposure to PM programs (Maintenance Management Software Programs), safety (EHS) management experience with qualifications as well as Industrial experience in Lean Toolbox (Six-Sigma, TPM, SMED, VSM etc) in a hands-on mechanical environment with current or past working experience in a Food Manufacturing environment is highly preferred
- Able to work closely with regional stakeholders across APAC, driven and focused to handle problems with a self-starter/independent personality approach.
