Primary objective

Lead the Corporate Communications team and provide strategic advice to the Chief Executive Officer, senior executives, and agency staff

on all aspects of communications. This includes overseeing website content, media relations, marketing initiatives, digital activities, and

the implementation of communication projects.

Context statement

The Department of Corporate and Digital Development (DCDD) is a central agency within the Northern Territory Government (NTG),

dedicated to driving innovation, efficiency, and excellence in public service delivery. The agency's mission is to enhance the digital and

corporate capabilities of the NTG, supporting government services that are accessible, efficient and responsive.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Lead and manage the Corporate Communications team to provide client-focused advice and services.

2. Initiate and provide strategic communications, marketing and media advice to the Chief Executive Officer, senior executives and the

Minister's office in line with whole of government protocols.

3. Implement, manage and evaluate targeted communication activities including any required procurement and contract management.

4. Build and maintain strong professional networks across the agency, public sector and other stakeholders.

5. Contribute to the strategic direction of the agency, including by participating in internal governance committees.

6. Develop and implement policies and procedures to support the operations of the Corporate Communications team.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. High-level strategic management and leadership experience within a complex organisation to achieve outcomes.

  1. Demonstrated experience managing and leading staff, budgets, and change in an environment of continuous improvement.
  2. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to effectively provide advice on complex, serious and

sensitive matters and communicate in plain language for users of DCDD services.

4. Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary strategic marketing and service development principles and practices and managing

effective communication activities.

5. Exceptional interpersonal skills, including proven performance in sustaining productive working relationships and partnerships with

senior executives (including the Minister's Office), colleagues and external stakeholders.

6. A professional work ethic with values aligned to DCDD's principles of commitment to service, innovation, ethical practice,

accountability, impartiality, diversity and respect.

Desirable

Relevant tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline (e.g. journalism, marketing) or minimum of five years' experience in a senior

communications position.
