We are currently seeking an Accountant to join our Kent Town office. Working with a degree of independence, the Accountant will deliver a range of accounting services including preparation of reports and analysis of financial data, collaborate with the Manager and support the growth and success of the business.

The Role

The Accountant will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial services, managing compliance and record keeping requirements and providing support to both clients and the internal team. The role also supervises and mentors our junior team to ensure high standards of client service and efficiency.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing financial statements, reports, forecasts and tax returns.
  • Reviewing and overseeing work returned from the junior team, ensuring quality and timeliness.
  • Coordinating collection of client documentation and ensuring accurate financial records.
  • Providing professional accounting and bookkeeping services to allocated clients.
  • Maintaining compliance with legislation, ATO requirements and firm policies.
  • Supporting internal audits, year-end reporting and WIP processes.
  • Managing workflow planning for allocated clients, ensuring timely attention to queries and completion of tasks.
  • Preparing weekly workflow reports and other financial updates for the Manager.
  • Contributing to the review and improvement of firm processes, policies and efficiency initiatives.
  • Supervising, mentoring and providing feedback to the junior team.

About You

The successful candidate will be highly organised, client-focused and proactive in managing competing priorities. You will bring strong technical skills in accounting, with proven experience in delivering high quality management and financial accounting services, the ability to mentor team members and a commitment to delivering high-quality work within deadlines and budgets.

You Will Possess

  • Relevant tertiary accounting qualifications in accounting or finance.
  • CPA or CA qualified or currently completing studies.
  • 5 years of experience in a mid-tier private practice accounting firm.
  • Experience providing high-quality financial and management accounting services.
  • Strong understanding of accounting-related standards, regulations and legislation.
  • Advanced proficiency in Xero and strong skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated capability to analyse, interpret and present financial data with accuracy and insight.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a collaborative and client-focused approach.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organised with proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
