Leading Hand – Remedial Construction

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Site Supervisor / Project Manager in coordinating day-to-day site operations across remedial, waterproofing, and concrete repair projects.
- Lead and motivate a small crew to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality completion of works.
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and method statements to ensure correct execution of tasks.
Carry out and oversee remedial tasks, including:
Concrete repair and patching
- Crack injection and grouting (epoxy, GP grout, polyurethane, etc.)
- Membrane and waterproofing application
- Surface preparation (blasting, grinding, hydro-demolition)
Structural strengthening and coating systems
Ensure compliance with company safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Conduct daily pre-starts, toolbox talks, and assist with site inductions and SWMS reviews.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, subcontractors, and clients to coordinate work areas and resolve issues.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, time sheets, and basic material tracking.
- Identify and report project variations, delays, and safety incidents promptly.
- Mentor and assist new or junior team members to uphold performance and safety standards.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in remedial, waterproofing, or concrete repair works.
- Demonstrated leadership in a Leading Hand or equivalent role.
- Solid understanding of site safety, risk management, and safe work procedures.
- Strong practical knowledge of concrete repair methods, waterproofing systems, and coating applications.
- Ability to operate basic site equipment (grinders, pumps, mixers, etc.).
- White Card (mandatory); other tickets such as Working at Heights, Confined Space, or EWP highly regarded.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and proactive in maintaining productivity and quality on site.
