Applied Ecology, Inc., a small environmental consulting business with a rapidly expanding footprint, is seeking a highly motivated and energetic Senior Environmental Remediation Engineer with proven Federal experience to lead our Remediation Service Line. This position requires a strong background in water resources and environmental engineering, solid project management skills, and experience working with Federal clients.Qualified candidates must have demonstrated experience and expertise in environmental remediation engineering and project management. The candidate should have a minimum of 12 years of professional experience and a passion for environmental protection and restoration. This position requires a strong background in water resources remediation, design engineering, project management skills, and experience working with federal clients. A candidate with experience in Business Development and demonstrated capabilities at negotiating work is preferred. The position is anticipated to be working in the office, with a portion of the time working in the field.AEI has three offices located in Florida and is a regional leader in water resources, ecological and natural resources, geospatial services, and environmental remediation and contamination services throughout the Southeast US. This is your opportunity to pursue the projects you always wanted and build your own successful team.Interested applicants, pleasesubmit a cover letter and resume addressed to Dr. Leesa Souto, AEI's Director of Operations.Position Description: Responsibilities & DutiesPlan remediation projects that meet clients' needs and comply with environmental regulations, including budgeting, staff task management, design and sampling plans. Provide options by demonstrating feasibility and considering alternativesDesign and implement contamination assessments and monitoring plans to evaluate the environmental impact of projects and operations at client facilities.Investigate sites that have been contaminated with chemicals, toxic waste, nutrients or other dangerous materialsRecommend and design environmental remediation treatments to address the remediation criteria and needs.Work in the field as needed to gather information and direct field personnel, requiring the ability to work in various weather conditions, walk on uneven terrain, safely operate a company truck, and carry heavy items (> 35 pounds).Produce, sign and seal, as needed, detailed technical reports.Conduct technical audits and reviews of engineering designs and assessment reports.Implement and handle all technical aspects of assessment and remediation projectsPerform generic and detailed quantitative risk assessmentsSupervise remediation site work including the set up and installation of treatment systemsHandle the containment and disposal of hazardous materials as neededEnsure all parties meet compliance with environmental regulationsObtain necessary permits involved in the remediation projectTrain staff on how to use and implement remediation systemsCompile technical reports, daily logs and soil, water and chemical auditsRecommend methods to meet compliance requirements and address new regulations.Use computer modelling and data analysis tools to assess and forecast environmental outcomesAssist with expanding the Environmental Remediation service line.Develop proposals and business opportunities to increase the capacity of AEI Environmental Remediation service area.Build business relationships with local and federal government clientsManage, develop, and follow-through with scopes of work and proposalsCommunicate with various municipality, utility, government clients, subcontractors, and government regulating agenciesManage the scope, schedule, and budget across multiple projects – from conceptual studies to full design and construction administration to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.Plan and manage project staffing requirements and project performance, and identifies and addresses scope creep, schedule, or quality issues to ensure a successful project.Work with clients, customers, and contracting partners to team on project and share work.Write workflows, approaches, and innovation designs in response to specific client task requests and general requests for proposals/qualifications.Occasionally travel to client sites for project investigations, definition workshops, charrettes and project meetingsAdvocates for design excellence and quality in overall program and all project deliverables; works proactively with federal clients to identify expectations and achieve Very Good to Exceptional CPARS ratingsApply practical knowledge of architectural and engineering methods, techniques, and historical project data to ensure project requirements are completeCoordinate, appoint and supervise subcontractorsMinimum Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related water resources discipline; Master's degree preferred≥12 years of experience in environmental remediationA Florida Professional Engineer license requiredKnowledge of the regulatory processes in FloridaExcellent project management skillsKnowledgeable in Microsoft Office productsExperience with surface water, groundwater, and integrated modeling codes such as HEC-RAS, ICPR, MIKE-SHE, and/or SWMMSolid technical writing skills and effective inter-communication skillsAccountable for their productivity and actionsHAZWOPPER or other OSHA certificationClean driving recordAbility to pass a federal background check and work on federal DOD facilities.Desired Qualifications8+ years of related project management and/or supervisory experience is preferred.Graduate degree preferredFederal experience, including NAVFAC, USACE, or USAF (DoD) experience preferredProject management experience specific to Architectural & Engineering (A/E) servicesExperience with AutoCAD, PONDS, ASAD, GEOPAK Drainage, ArcGIS, and/or MicroStationLEED accreditation or other accepted "Green Rating System" and sustainable project experienceProject Management Professional certification (PMP)Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)Solid planning and project management skillsPassion for the environment and conservationTechnically skilled to perform process-orientated, remediation and sampling tasksExcellent organization and team working skillsFinancial acumen to manage budgets and assist with forecastingDemonstrable ability to keep up to date with latest legislation and compliance requirementsFlexible approach and ability to change direction when requiredDetail orientated with a focus on data managementStrong reporting skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to negotiate with regulatory authoritiesGreat communicator and ability to explain testing results to a range of partiesOutstanding computer skills with an ability to use a range of software packages as well as demonstrating an interest in learning new technologyApplies logic and common sense to project demandsStrong data analytics skills and a flair for managing multiple sources of informationAdministrative capabilities including the provision of health and safety documentation and data collectionOrganized with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple projectsPossess effective analytical and problem-solving skillsEnergetic, detail-oriented team player and leaderMotivated and eager to grow the Environmental Remediation Service LineMust be detail-oriented and take pride in delivering high quality productsAbility to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanorAbility to work in a diverse environmentApplied Ecology, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
