We are seeking an experienced Procurement Advisor to join a State Government Department up to 12 months working 37.5 hours per week. This exciting opportunity will see you play a vital role in delivering value-for-money procurement outcomes through high-quality acquisition planning, strategic sourcing, negotiations, and supplier recommendations.

You will provide expert procurement advice and guidance to internal clients.  As a trusted advisor, you'll contribute to key procurement documentation and lead the establishment of low to medium-risk government contracts to meet evolving business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advisory services on procurement procedures, frameworks, and policy compliance.
  • Review and contribute to key procurement documents including acquisition plans, market approaches, evaluation and negotiation plans, and purchase recommendations.
  • Lead procurement activities to establish low-to-medium risk government contracts.
  • Ensure all procurement and contracting activities align with their legal, financial, and commercial requirements.
  • Drive the development and implementation of procurement strategies and processes.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and improved procurement outcomes.
  • Champion a positive culture of change and continuous improvement within the procurement function.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in complex environments.

What You'll Bring Mandatory:

  • A minimum of 2 years' recent experience in a procurement advisory/sourcing role.

Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience in preparing core procurement documents, including acquisition plans and purchase recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of Government and Procurement SA procurement principles and policies.
  • Proven ability to lead or participate in supplier selection through evaluation panels.
  • Skilled in assessing value for money and conducting cost-benefit analyses.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience working with confidential or commercially sensitive information.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to ethical procurement and capable of providing guidance across the business.
  • Understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles.
  • Working knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management frameworks (AS/NZS ISO 31000:2018).

Desirable Characteristics

  • Experience predominantly in sourcing procurement with some contract management experience required within the public sector.
